week 4, afternoon: room 104
[ a knock sounds from room 104's door. percival stands, a hand braced against his hip as he waits. ]
I need to return something.
[ when it opens, he draws out the scalpel from his pocket the slightest bit, just so it'll gleam enough for dirk to see. ]

That is like the most ominous fuckin' way anyone could do that.
[Dirk looks... tired again? That's been normal since Dave's death. Whenever no one is around, he seems to just collapse like a puppet who lost his animator. But in Percy's presence, he is trying to draw the strings back up.]

I didn't want to remind the rest of the hallway to know you're in possession of a scalpel.
[ the scalpel is set atop the tv. ]
How are you feeling? [ the answer should be obvious, but it's worth a shot. ]

[he didn't want Dirk to be unarmed. He shouted at him for not grabbing a knife while they were still around. Dirk glances at Percival and gives a shrug.]
Suicidally depressed and kept alive by promises to people I love and anger at this fuckin' situation. Same old.
[..Look it isn't a secret.]
How about you?
we're going to pretend that he totally just said that sentence correctly
[ he likes the honesty, at the very least. ]
Alive. That's all I need. Things are beginning to wind down, however. It'll be an outright war within a matter of time.
i believed in it
[They Will Not.]

[ suddenly, with a beat. ]
Do you think it'll truly come down to only three of us?

Sometimes there are roles. Like the Bodyguard role, who can choose one person to guard per night, and who will die if that person is attacked.
[SOUND FAMILIAR]
A game of Mafia ends either when the mafia outnumber the townspeople, or when the townspeople have rooted out and killed every member of the mafia. Three people could be two members of the mafia and one townsperson, giving them the win condition for mafia. It could also be two or more townspeople, who can take out the last member of the mafia, giving them their win condition.

[ a pause. ]
If Kamui and Mira were members of the mafia, that likely means the rest also came here of their accord. I wonder what that means for the detectives.

[ he runs his fingers through his hair. ]
If we go by the notes, there are at least two members of the mafia who remain. I have my suspicions about one, however--
I'm curious about your own. You've evidently noticed things that I haven't.

[ there's agitation to his voice, as though he's been through this before. ]
Hibiki's murderer is still among us. Black hair. I haven't forgotten.

If I had my abilities, I could find them. [He could put Prince of Heart to use. But they aren't here.]

Ha. I had no idea. As far as I was concerned, he was still my father all that time despite the growing distance and the wars he waged.
You never know. Human desire is one of the strongest forces imaginable.
[ he says it matter-of-factly, because it simply is. until -- ]
You're still capable. Not of what you were before, but something.
I may have lost my fire, but it's still there -- somewhere.

That fuckin' sucks.
[It's terrible consolation. He doesn't have anything more than that, because he doesn't know how to console. How else to describe it when the people you love become something else? It just fucking sucks.]
You know, dude, you must be all kinds of solid at pep talks. You're ownin' the "We few, we happy few, we band of brothers" line of speech.
[Dirk is trying for Percival Very Badly. But he is trying. He hears that raw honesty. He recognizes the way those eyes move.]

earnestly and confidently, percival smiles. ]
I'm fine. You don't need to comfort me, you know. I can speak of this all because I've surpassed it. [ a laugh. ] Although, I didn't intend to bore you with the details of my personal life. I apologize.
[ he pauses, gazing off into the distance. ]
I want to end this. That's what matters most to me right now.
[ he then rolls his shoulders and meets dirk's gaze. his eyes are alight with something unscrupulous—but they are warm nonetheless. ]
I see good in you. Should you ever need anything, you're welcome to come to me.
I won't hurt you. I promise you this, at the very least.

[So he appreciates it. He meets Percival's eyes back.]
Do you want to break this? Not Mira's way. I want to tear this place down.

[Because that's the game. And if that's what they want attention on, then they need to focus elsewhere.]
Your break-in and discovery about the religious shit was a good start. With the library open, I think we need to hit up religious studies so as not to pass by any easy information, but more than that, we need to gather everything we can figure out about how this place works.
I already found a book in the library that talks about multiple worlds and seems on the edge of a theory to move people between them. Your group found hints about the ritual. There has to be more information like this around.. If we can understand these Gods and the world we're in, we can find the heart of this place and destroy it.
