SPELLBIND INFO
PERCIVAL communicative healing BIODATA Name: Percival of WalesAge: 27 Canon: Granblue Fantasy Canon Point: Following the event, Poacher's Day Canon Abilities: here! History: here! Personality: Percival is, at a front, a frigid, arrogant man – he speaks bluntly, often valuing what he perceives to be the truth over another individual’s feelings. Of course, a front does not necessarily align with reality. Beneath his abrasive, seemingly harsh exterior lies a tender heart that beats for the entirety of humanity. Much of Percival's harsh mannerisms source back to his upbringing -- he hails from the prestigious Wales family, an infamous aristocratic family that has utilized black magic to conquer countries for decades now. As a result, Percival's coarse tongue is simply the byproduct of how he's been socialized: men like his father and eldest brother spared little room for vulnerability. In spite of this, Percival is a painfully empathetic man, and has prioritized the needs of others (particularly those who are vulnerable) since childhood. He is physically incapable of ignoring the suffering of others’, going as far as to take physical blows for those around him. Even if he may attempt to blow it off as an obligation, the truth of the matter is that Percival cannot bear to watch another living creature struggle by their lonesome: as evidenced by when he jumps to a pair of siblings' rescue as they drown in a frigid lake without a second thought, or when he'd dedicated the entirety of his vacation towards helping residents on the island he'd visited simply because he couldn't bring himself to ignore their individual plights. His sensitivity, much like his rigor, has its origin story as well: Percival's mother integrated values such as compassion, open mindedness and love into his childhood, as she had been a rather renown activist for the refugees within their country at the time. Percival was eventually forced to witness her death at the hands of the very same refugees she had helped -- she used her dying breath to tell him to not hold grudges, and to always treat his brothers with kindness. He heeded both of her requests with all of his might, and instead of resenting refugees he had chosen to follow in his mother's footsteps and continue to fight for their right to security. This does not mean Percival is without his own demons: he is implied to have PTSD and is plagued with recurring nightmares. The helplessness Percival felt in the wake of his trauma has shaped a great deal of his personality, and he refuses to relive that powerlessness, even if it means possibly dying in the process due to his actions. He's an individualistic man who is determined to find his own way: as the youngest of his family, and as a noble who genuinely desired to help those on the peripheries, he had decided to take up the ancient tradition of being a Knight in service to the nation neighboring his own -- and he very much excelled at his occupation, going as far as to become deputy officer of the army. It's evident that Percival doesn't merely serve a nation, but would much rather serve humanity in itself, often preaching that all people deserve the same rights and comforts. Having been in a high ranking military position and lead an army of his own, Percival is incredibly critical of anyone in a position of authority; incompetence and corruption are enough to get Percival burning red hot. Percival holds his head with pride, and rarely does he waver – he has something of a king complex, although it is rooted in good intentions to say the least. Good intentions aren't everything: he still often condescends others when angered and goes as far as to claim that allowing your personal emotions to rule you is a sign of weakness. His sense of human duty is at the forefront of his personality and he lives to protect, fight and serve on others’ behalf. Percival frequently states that his dream is to create a land wherein even the most marginalized people of the world are able to live in harmony, and has spent much of his life pursuing this dream of his. Despite this, he can be incredibly difficult, argumentative, catty, smug and even flamboyant on occasion. Percival is prone to isolating himself in his pursuit to defend the innocent, alongside the people he cares for -- even when he is blooded and bruised, Percival is fully intent on protecting the protagonist of Granblue Fantasy from harm's way...until they choose to physically stop him themself. At his core, Percival is nothing short of soft and sensitive; he believes firmly in giving people a second chance, and that anyone is capable of progressing beyond their mistakes -- something that he has stated himself. He attempts to convince his eldest brother that the world is worth fighting for, and that people are not defined by the mistakes they've made. While Percival is shrewd and astute, knowing well that there are many people with ill intentions and corrupted hearts of their own, there is a naivety to him that allows him to harbor a bountiful love for all life. In actuality, he can be rather affectionate and heartfelt, but is quick to fluster when around those he hasn't come to trust...which is most people. Percival has spent the majority of his life attempting to stow away his emotions in order to ensure he would never again be the helpless little boy who was unable to do anything as his mother died, or the baby brother who was constantly a burden to the head of the family. Percival is also an avid scholar: he takes great interest in studying the geography, culture and history of any land he visits, will read essentially anything he can find and is thoroughly invested in any ecosystem he comes across. While vacationing, Percival had deemed it necessary to memorize the geography of the land in case anything were to happen to the residents -- he used this knowledge when confronted with a scarcity of fish, and ultimately helped the people of the land come to a conclusion that benefited both the animals and the denizens that inhabited the area. GAME INFO Power: Communicative healing. Percival has the ability to heal people through emotional comfort: this does not necessarily have to be through words, but can also be done through touch. It's simply a matter of what soothes the mental state of the other individual: essentially, making the injured or wounded party feel better in a more emotional sense will in turn heal their wounds.
